North Somerset and Bristol Fungus Group

June 2009:  not many fungi around, but this magnificent example of Pleurotus cornucopiae was found close to the path that goes around Walton Common, near Clevedon.

The North Somerset and Bristol Fungus Group meets regularly to identify and record fungi in a region bounded by Bristol, Portishead, Clevedon, Weston super Mare, Bridgwater, Glastonbury and Frome.

The pages on this site contain information about our current activities, our foray records, picture galleries, training days and much more. Please use the various drop-down menus to navigate the site.

Information about our surveys of  fungi at Tyntesfield, a National Trust Estate near Bristol,  is also provided.  Regular monthly audits been conducted there since October 2005.  These have identified more than 700 different species and have revealed that the lawns around the House are an internationally important site for Waxcap fungi (Hygrocybe spp).

The North Somerset and Bristol Fungus Group is affiliated to the Association of British Fungus Groups and to the the British Mycological Society.
