Kings Wood, Congresbury 6 October 2007 |
The new season started with a visit to a new site, a SSSI, Kings Wood in Congresbury. After an unusual challenge by a local farmer, we enjoyed a good foray, led by Justin Smith, with nearly 100 species identified, but with small numbers of each. Most were growing on or around logs - with very few free growing species. |
Polyporus tuberaster: growing on decaying tree. |
Marasmius ramealis: growing in profusion. |
Inonotus radiatus: a common bracket fungus growing at the base of a felled conifer stump. |
